What Are the 2020 Jambur Runs?

The 2020 Jamb runs from May into August, from the southern tip of India to the Arabian Sea and is one of the most challenging hill races in the world. The race takes place on the hill station of Jambur in Karnataka, and as the name suggests, it is a marathon that is run up the Jambur Hill.

Jambur is a hill station in the district of Karnataka, but it is also one of the oldest in India, having been first visited by British explorers in the eighteenth century. It is considered one of the most important tourist attractions of India, not just because it is beautiful and well-preserved, but because it is home to many national parks, waterfalls and natural resources.Click here for more details about 2021 Jamb runs

The course of the 2020 Jambur runs was selected with great care by the organizers and involves a series of climbs that make for an excellent test of strength and endurance. As, well as the run itself there are many other events including a group of events called the "Jyothi" - the traditional dances of the local people, and a horse racing competition, which are the most prestigious in the world.

The course of the Jambur runs has many bends and descents, with some sections being uphill and others downhill. It starts at the hill station of Bhimani on the south-western end of the peninsula and then makes its way through the village of Mararikkala, through the hills to Jambur's main town of Jambur, before turning left down the hill towards the sea.

There are three different categories of competitors at the Jambur runs. There are elite runners and women's marathoners, who typically race the full course. The rest of the field consists of runners who take part in either the "Jyothi"Kusala" and have the chance to cross the finish line at the same time as the elite runners. In addition to these categories there are other categories, such as amateurs, juniors, families and handicappers.

The first race of the year takes place on the morning of the Sunday of the week prior to the weekend of the 2020 Jambur races. It is an exciting event because the start is made closer to the beach than usual, and the atmosphere is festive. The weather is mild and clear, and it can get fairly hot as the day progresses.

When the start is finally made, the runner is required to begin his or her journey running along the road, through the village and along the hills. The course takes its initial bends and turns slowly through the village as well, and then travels down to the sea and back again over the crest of the hill.

Over the course of the course many different people will take part in the race, including women runners, as well as juniors and professionals. The race then ends at the main village and the finish line where the elite runners take their place.
